NASTextRec
The word was in the beginning, and the word was with God, and the word was God. The word was in the beginning, and the word was with God, and the word was God.
This one was in the beginning with God. This one was in the beginning with God.
+ All things came into being through him, and apart from him not one thing came into being that has come into being. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
In him was life, and the life was the light of people. In him was life, and the life was the light of people.
The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness didn’t overcome it. The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness didn’t overcome it.
A man was born, being sent forth by God, whose name Jōannēs. A man was born, being sent forth by God, whose name Jōannēs.
This one came as a witness, to witness concerning the light, so that all might believe through him. This one came as a witness, to witness concerning the light, so that all might believe through him.
That one was not the light, but he came to testify about the Light. That one was not the light, but he came to testify about the Light.
That was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every person. That was the true light which, coming into the world, enlightens every person.
He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world didn’t know him. He was in the world, and the world came into being through him, and the world didn’t know him.
He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him. He came to his own, and those who were his own didn’t receive him.
But as many as received him, to them he gave the authority to become children of God, to the ones who believe in his name, But as many as received him, to them he gave the authority to become children of God, to the ones who believe in his name,
And the word became flesh, and dwelt among us, and we saw his glory, glory as of the unique one from the Father, full of grace and truth. And the word became flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we saw his glory, glory as of the unique one from the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Jōannēs testified about him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has become before me, for he existed before me.’” Jōannēs testified about him and cried out, saying, “This was he of whom I said, ‘He who comes after me has become before me, for he existed before me.’”
For of his fullness we have all received, even grace in exchange for grace. For of his fullness we have all received, even grace in exchange for grace.
For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ. For the Law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
No one has seen God at any time; the unique God who is in the chest of the Father, he has revealed him. No one has seen God at any time; the unique God who is in the chest of the Father, he has revealed him.
And he acknowledged and didn’t deny, but acknowledged, “I am not the Christ.” And he acknowledged and didn’t deny, but acknowledged, “I am not the Christ.”
1:21 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτόν, τί οὖν;
σὺ Ἠλίας εἶ;
προφήτης εἶ σύ;
21 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτόν, τί οὖν;

1:22 εἶπαν οὖν αὐτῷ, τίς εἶ;
τί λέγεις περὶ σεαυτοῦ;

τί λέγεις περὶ σεαυτοῦ;
Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?” Then they said to him, “Who are you, so that we may give an answer to those who sent us? What do you say about yourself?”
He said, “I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’[2] just as Ēsaia the prophet said.” He said, “I am a voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make straight the way of the Lord,’[2] just as Ēsaia the prophet said.”
1:25 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτὸν καὶ εἶπαν αὐτῷ, τί οὖν βαπτίζεις εἰ σὺ οὐκ εἶ Χριστὸς οὐδὲ Ἠλίας οὐδὲ προφήτης; 25 καὶ ἠρώτησαν αὐτόν, καὶ εἶπον αὐτῷ, τί οὖν βαπτίζεις, εἰ σὺ οὐκ εἶ Χριστός, οὔτε Ἠλίας, οὔτε προφήτης;
They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Ēlias, nor the Prophet?” They asked him, and said to him, “Why then are you baptizing, if you are not the Christ, nor Ēlias, nor the Prophet?”

These things happened in Bēthania beyond the Jordan, where Jōannēs was baptizing. These things happened in Bēthabara beyond the Jordan, where Jōannēs was baptizing.
