1. γινώσκομεν καὶ τὸ θέλημα καὶ τὴν ἀγάπην τοῦ θεοῦ.
We know both the will and the love of God.
2. ὁ κύριος εἰσῆλθεν εἰς τὸ ἱερὸν κατὰ τὸ ἔθος αὐτοῦ.
The Lord entered into the temple according to his custom.
3. ὁ χριστὸς ἐδίδασκε τοὺς ὄχλους ἐν τῷ ὄρει.
Christ was teaching the crowds on the mountain.
4. τὸ σῶμα τοῦ κυρίου ἐδοξάσθη μετὰ τὴν ἀνάστασιν.
The body of the Lord was glorified after the resurrection.
5. ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ χριστοῦ ἔχομεν ἐλπίδα τῆς ζωῆς.
In the name of Christ we have hope of life.
6. ἐσώθημεν διὰ τοῦ αἵματος τοῦ υἱοῦ τοῦ θεοῦ καὶ νῦν γινώσκομεν τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.
We were saved through the blood of the Son of God, and now we know his mercy.
7. ἤκουσαν τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ στόματος αὐτοῦ καὶ ἔλαβον τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ.
They heard the words of his mouth and received his mercy.
8. τὰ ἔθνη οὐ γινώσκει τὸ βάθος τοῦ ἐλέους τοῦ θεοῦ.
The nations do not know the depth of the mercy of God. (Neuter plural subject taking a singular verb).
9. ἡμεῖς ἐβαπτίσθημεν ὑπὸ τοῦ χριστοῦ, ὑμεῖς δὲ ἐβαπτίσθητε ὑπ’ ἀποστόλου αὐτοῦ.
We were baptized by Christ, but you were baptized by his apostle.
10. οἱ μαθηταὶ ἐβάπτιζον ἐν τῷ ὀνόματι τοῦ πατρὸς καὶ τοῦ υἱοῦ καὶ τοῦ πνεύματος.
The disciples were baptizing in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Spirit.
11. οἱ πονηροὶ μένουσιν ἐν τῷ σκότει τῆς ἁμαρτίας, οἱ δὲ πιστοὶ ἀκούουσι τὰ ῥήματα τοῦ κυρίου καὶ γίνονται ἀγαθοὶ μαθηταί.
The evil ones remain in the darkness of sin, but the faithful ones hear the words of the Lord and become good disciples.
12. ἐγὼ μὲν βαπτίζω ὑμᾶς ἐν ὕδατι, ἐκεῖνος δὲ βαπτίσει ὑμᾶς ἐν τῷ πνεύματι.
I indeed baptize you with water, but that one will baptize you with the Spirit. (cf. Matthew 3:11)
