1. τότε ἠκούομεν τῆς φωνῆς αὐτοῦ, νῦν δὲ οὐκέτι ἀκούομεν αὐτῆς.
Then we used to hear his voice, but now we no longer hear it.
2. ἐκεῖνοι μὲν οἱ ἁμαρτωλοὶ μένουσιν ἐν τῇ σκοτίᾳ, οὗτοι δὲ εἰσέρχονται εἰς τὴν βασιλείαν τοῦ θεοῦ.
On the one hand, those sinners remain in the darkness, but on the other hand, these ones are entering into the kingdom of God.
3. ἐν ἐκείναις ταῖς ἡμέραις ὁ μεσσίας ἐθεράπευε τοὺς ὄχλους καὶ ἔσωζεν αὐτοὺς ἀπὸ τῶν ἁμαρτιῶν αὐτῶν.
In those days the Messiah was healing the crowds and saving them from their sins.
4. ἡτοίμαζον τὰς καρδίας αὐτῶν πονηροὶ ἄνθρωποι ὅτι ἤκουον τῶν γραφῶν καὶ ἐπίστευον αὐτάς.
Evil men were preparing their hearts because they were hearing the Scriptures and believing them.
5. διὰ μὲν τὴν ἀγάπην τοῦ θεοῦ ἀποθνῄσκομεν ἐν τῇ βασιλείᾳ τοῦ θεοῦ, δεχόμεθα δὲ τὴν ζωὴν σὺν τῷ υἱῷ αὐτοῦ.
On the one hand, through the love of God we die in the kingdom of God, but on the other hand, we receive life with his Son.
6. πονηροὶ ἦτε, ἀγαθοὶ δέ ἐστε.
You (plural) were evil, but now you are good.
7. νῦν μὲν διδασκόμεθα ὑπὸ τοῦ κυρίου, τότε δὲ ἐδιδάσκομεν τὴν ἐκκλησίαν.
Now, on the one hand, we are taught by the Lord, but then, on the other hand, we were teaching the church/assembly.
8. ὁ μεσσίας ἀπέστελλεν ἀγγέλους πρὸς ἡμᾶς.
The Messiah was sending angels/messengers to us.
9. οἱ ἄνθρωποι οἱ πονηροὶ ἀπέκτεινον τὰ τέκνα σὺν τοῖς διδασκάλοις αὐτῶν.
The evil men were killing the children along with their teachers.
10. ἐν τῷ κόσμῳ ἦν καὶ ὁ κόσμος οὐκ ἐγίνωσκεν αὐτόν.
He was in the world, and the world did not know him. (John 1:10)
