Μαρίας
τῆς
θεοτόκου.
|
Prayer of Mary, the Mother of God (Luke 1:46-55)
|
46 Μεγαλύνει
ἡ
ψυχή
μου
τὸν
κύριον,
|
46 “My soul exalts the Lord,
|
47 καὶ
ἠγαλλίασεν
τὸ
πνεῦμά
μου
ἐπὶ
τῷ
θεῷ
τῷ
σωτῆρί
μου,
|
47 And my spirit rejoiced in God my Saviour.
|
48 ὅτι
ἐπέβλεψεν
ἐπὶ
τὴν
ταπείνωσιν
τῆς
δούλης
αὐτοῦ·
ἰδοὺ
γὰρ
ἀπὸ
τοῦ
νῦν
μακαριοῦσίν
με
πᾶσαι
αἱ
γενεαί,
|
48 “For he has looked upon the humble state of his slave; for consider! From now on all generations will call me blessed.
|
49 ὅτι
ἐποίησέν
μοι
μεγαλεῖα
ὁ
δυνατός,
καὶ
ἅγιον
τὸ
ὄνομα
αὐτοῦ,
|
49 “For the Mighty One has done great things for me; And holy is his name.
|
50 καὶ
τὸ
ἔλεος
αὐτοῦ
εἰς
γενεὰν
καὶ
γενεὰν
τοῖς
φοβουμένοις
αὐτόν.
|
50 “And his mercy is upon generation after generation toward those who fear him.
|
51 ἐποίησεν
κράτος
ἐν
βραχίονι
αὐτοῦ,
διεσκόρπισεν
ὑπερηφάνους
διανοίᾳ
καρδίας
αὐτῶν·
|
51 “He has done mighty deeds with his arm; he has scattered those who were proud in the thoughts of their heart.
|
52 καθεῖλεν
δυνάστας
ἀπὸ
θρόνων
καὶ
ὕψωσεν
ταπεινούς·
|
52 “He has brought down rulers from their thrones, and has exalted the humble.
|
53 πεινῶντας
ἐνέπλησεν
ἀγαθῶν
καὶ
πλουτοῦντας
ἐξαπέστειλεν
κενούς.
|
53 “He has satisfied the hungry with good things; and sent away empty those who are rich.
|
54 ἀντελάβετο
Ἰσραὴλ
παιδὸς
αὐτοῦ
μνησθῆναι
ἐλέους,
|
54 “He helped Israēl his servant, by remembering mercy,
|
55 καθὼς
ἐλάλησεν
πρὸς
τοὺς
πατέρας
ἡμῶν,
τῷ
Ἁβραὰμ
καὶ
τῷ
σπέρματι
αὐτοῦ
ἕως
αἰῶνος.
|
55 Just as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his descendants forever.”

Prayer of Zachariah (Luke 1:68-79)
|
68 εὐλογητὸς
κύριος
ὁ
θεὸς
τοῦ
Ἰσραήλ,
ὅτι
ἐπεσκέψατο
καὶ
ἐποίησεν
λύτρωσιν
τῷ
λαῷ
αὐτοῦ,
|
68 “Blessed be the Lord God of Israēl, For he has visited us and made redemption for his people,
|
69 καὶ
ἤγειρεν
κέρας
σωτηρίας
ἡμῖν
ἐν
τῷ
οἴκῳ
Δαυὶδ
τοῦ
παιδὸς
αὐτοῦ,
|
69 And has raised up a horn of salvation for us In the house of David his servant;
|
70 καθὼς
ἐλάλησεν
διὰ
στόματος
τῶν
ἁγίων
τῶν
ἀπ'
αἰῶνος
προφητῶν
αὐτοῦ,
|
70 Just as he spoke by the mouth of his holy prophets from of old;
|
71 σωτηρίαν
ἐξ
ἐχθρῶν
ἡμῶν
καὶ
ἐκ
χειρὸς
πάντων
τῶν
μισούντων
ἡμᾶς,
|
71 Deliverance from our enemies, And from the hand of all who hate us;
|
72 ποιῆσαι
ἔλεος
μετὰ
τῶν
πατέρων
ἡμῶν
καὶ
μνησθῆναι
διαθήκης
ἁγίας
αὐτοῦ
|
72 To cause mercy toward our fathers, And to remember his holy covenant,
|
73 ὅρκον,
ὃν
ὤμοσεν
πρὸς
Ἁβραὰμ
τὸν
πατέρα
ἡμῶν,
|
73 The oath which he swore to Abraham our father,
|
74 τοῦ
δοῦναι
ἡμῖν
ἀφόβως
ἐκ
χειρὸς
τῶν
ἐχθρῶν
ἡμῶν
ῥυσθέντας
|
74 to grant us, that we, being rescued from the hand of our enemies, might serve him fearlessly,
|
75 λατρεύειν
αὐτῷ
ἐν
ὁσιότητι
καὶ
δικαιοσύνῃ
ἐνώπιον
αὐτοῦ
πάσας
τὰς
ἡμέρας
ἡμῶν.
|
75 In piety and righteousness before him all the days of our life.
|
76 καὶ
σὺ
δέ
παιδίον,
προφήτης
ὑψίστου
κληθήσῃ·
προπορεύσῃ
γὰρ
πρὸ
προσώπου
κυρίου
ἑτοιμάσαι
ὁδοὺς
αὐτοῦ
|
76 “And you, child, will be called the prophet of the Highest; for you will go on before the face of the Lord to prepare his ways;
|
77 τοῦ
δοῦναι
γνῶσιν
σωτηρίας
τῷ
λαῷ
αὐτοῦ
ἐν
ἀφέσει
ἁμαρτιῶν
ἡμῶν
|
77 To give to his people the knowledge of salvation by the forgiveness of their sins,
|
78 διὰ
σπλάγχνα
ἐλέους
θεοῦ
ἡμῶν,
ἐν
οἷς
ἐπεσκέψατο
ἡμᾶς
ἀνατολὴ
ἐξ
ὕψους
|
78 Because of the tender mercy of our God, with which the dawn from on high will visit us,
|
79 ἐπιφᾶναι
τοῖς
ἐν
σκότει
καὶ
σκιᾷ
θανάτου
καθημένοις
τοῦ
κατευθῦναι
τοὺς
πόδας
ἡμῶν
εἰς
ὁδὸν
εἰρήνης.
|
79 To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.”
