Chapter 5

Prayer of Isaiah
(Isa 26:9-20)
9 that our soul desires. From the night my spirit arises early toward you, Oh God, because your ordinances are a light on the land. Learn righteousness, you who dwell on the land.
10 for the ungodly one has stopped; everyone who won't learn righteousness on the land; he won't perform truth. Let the ungodly one be taken away in order that he may not see the glory of the Lord.
11 Oh Lord, your arm is lifted up, and they haven't known it, but after they know, they will be ashamed. Jealousy will take hold of an uneducated people, and fire will now consume the adversaries.
12 Oh Lord, our God, give us peace, for you granted all things for us.
13 Oh Lord, our God, redeem us; Oh Lord, we know no other except you; we name your name.
14 But the dead won't see life, nor will physicians raise them up; because of this you have brought them and destroyed them and taken away all their males.
15 Increase evils on them, Oh Lord; increase evils on the glorious ones of the land.
16 Oh Lord, in affliction I remembered you; with light affliction your discipline was on us.
17 And as a woman in labour is about to give birth and cries out in her pangs, so were we to your beloved because of the fear of you, Oh Lord.
18 We conceived and laboured and gave birth; we produced the spirit of your salvation on the land, we will not fall but those who dwell on the land will fall.
19 The dead shall rise, and those who are in the tombs shall be raised, and those who are in the land shall rejoice; for the dew from you is healing for them, but the land of the ungodly shall fall.
20 Go, my people, enter your bedrooms; lock your door; hide yourselves for just a little while until the wrath of the Lord has passed.
