1 A Psalm of David.
Hear my prayer, Oh Yahweh, give ear to my supplications; in your faithfullness answer me, and in your righteousness.


143:1 [Ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυίδ, ὅτε αὐτὸν ὁ υἱὸς καταδιώκει.] Κύριε, εἰσάκουσον τῆς προσευχῆς μου, ἐνώτισαι τὴν δέησίν μου ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ σου, ἐπάκουσόν μου ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου· 143:1 Ψαλμὸς τῷ Δαυΐδ, ὅτε αὐτὸν ὁ υἱὸς καταδιώκει. — κύριε, εἰσάκουσον τῆς προσευχῆς μου, ἐνώτισαι τὴν δέησίν μου ἐν τῇ ἀληθείᾳ σου, εἰσάκουσόν μου ἐν τῇ δικαιοσύνῃ σου·

2 And enter not into judgment with your servant; for in your sight shall no man living be justified.

3 For the enemy has persecuted my soul; he has smitten my life down to the ground; he has made me to dwell in darkness, as those who have been long dead.

143:3 Ὅτι κατεδίωξεν ὁ ἐχθρὸς τὴν ψυχήν μου, ἐταπείνωσεν εἰς γῆν τὴν ζωήν μου, ἐκάθισέν με ἐν σκοτεινοῖς ὡς νεκροὺς αἰῶνος· 143:3 ὅτι κατεδίωξεν ὁ ἐχθρὸς τὴν ψυχήν μου, ἐταπείνωσεν εἰς γῆν τὴν ζωήν μου, ἐκάθισέ με ἐν σκοτεινοῖς ὡς νεκροὺς αἰῶνος·

4 Therefore is my spirit overwhelmed within me; my heart within me is desolate.

5 I remember the days of old; I meditate on all your works; I muse on the work of your hands.

6 I stretch forth my hands to you; my soul thirsts after you, as a thirsty land. Selah.

143:6 διεπέτασα τὰς χεῖράς μου πρὸς σέ, ἡ ψυχή μου ὡς γῆ ἄνυδρός σοι.

7 Hear me speedily, Oh Yahweh; my spirit fails; hide not your face from me, lest I be like to those who go down into the pit.

143:7 Ταχὺ εἰσάκουσόν μου, κύριε, ἐξέλιπεν τὸ πνεῦμά μου·
μὴ ἀποστρέψῃς τὸ πρόσωπόν σου ἀπ' ἐμοῦ, καὶ ὁμοιωθήσομαι τοῖς καταβαίνουσιν εἰς λάκκον. 		143:7 ταχὺ εἰσάκουσόν μου, Κύριε, ἐξέλιπε τὸ πνεῦμά μου·

8 Cause me to hear your lovingkindness in the morning; for in you do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk; for I lift up my soul to you.

9 Deliver me, Oh Yahweh, from my enemies; I flee to you to hide me.

143:10 δίδαξόν με τοῦ ποιεῖν τὸ θέλημά σου, ὅτι σὺ εἶ ὁ θεός μου·

11 Quicken me, Oh Yahweh, for your name's sake; for your righteousness' sake bring my soul out of trouble.

12 And of your mercy cut off my enemies, and destroy all those who afflict my soul; for I am your servant.
