1 Ἐλέησον
ἡμᾶς,
δέσποτα
ὁ
θεὸς
πάντων,
καὶ
ἐπίβλεψον
καὶ
ἐπίβαλε
τὸν
φόβον
σου
ἐπὶ
πάντα
τὰ
ἔθνη·
|
1 Have mercy upon us, O Lord God of all, and behold us: And send thy fear upon all the nations that seek not after thee.
|
2 ἔπαρον
τὴν
χεῖρά
σου
ἐπὶ
ἔθνη
ἀλλότρια,
καὶ
ἰδέτωσαν
τὴν
δυναστείαν
σου.
|
2 Lift up thy hand against the strange nations, and let them see thy power.
|
3 ὥσπερ
ἐνώπιον
αὐτῶν
ἡγιάσθης
ἐν
ἡμῖν,
οὕτως
ἐνώπιον
ἡμῶν
μεγαλυνθείης
ἐν
αὐτοῖς·
|
3 As thou wast sanctified in us before them: so be thou magnified among them before us.
|
4 καὶ
ἐπιγνώτωσάν
σε,
καθάπερ
καὶ
ἡμεῖς
ἐπέγνωμεν
ὅτι
οὐκ
ἔστιν
θεὸς
πλὴν
σοῦ,
κύριε.
|
4 And let them know thee, as we have known thee, that there is no God but only thou, O God.
|
5 ἐγκαίνισον
σημεῖα
καὶ
ἀλλοίωσον
θαυμάσια,
δόξασον
χεῖρα
καὶ
βραχίονα
δεξιόν·
|
5 Shew new signs, and make other strange wonders: glorify thy hand and thy right arm, that they may set forth thy wondrous works.
|
6 ἔγειρον
θυμὸν
καὶ
ἔκχεον
ὀργήν
ἔξαρον
ἀντίδικον
καὶ
ἔκτριψον
ἐχθρόν.
|
6 Raise up indignation, and pour out wrath: take away the adversary, and destroy the enemy.
|
7 σπεῦσον
καιρὸν
καὶ
μνήσθητι
ὁρκισμοῦ,
καὶ
ἐκδιηγησάσθωσαν
τὰ
μεγαλεῖά
σου
|
7 Sake the time short, remember the covenant, and let them declare thy wonderful works.
|
8 ἐν
ὀργῇ
πυρὸς
καταβρωθήτω
ὁ
σῳζόμενος,
καὶ
οἱ
κακοῦντες
τὸν
λαόν
σου
εὕροισαν
ἀπώλειαν.
|
8 Let him that escapeth be consumed by the rage of the fire; and let them perish that oppress the people.
|
9 σύντριψον
κεφαλὰς
ἀρχόντων
ἐχθρῶν
λεγόντων
οὐκ
ἔστιν
πλὴν
ἡμῶν.
|
9 Smite in sunder the heads of the rulers of the heathen, that say, There is none other but we.
|
10 συνάγαγε
πάσας
φυλὰς
Ἰακὼβ
καὶ
κατακληρονόμησον
αὐτοὺς
καθὼς
ἀπ'
ἀρχῆς.
|
10 Gather all the tribes of Jacob together, and inherit thou them, as from the beginning.
|
11 ἐλέησον
λαόν
κύριε,
κεκλημένον
ἐπ'
ὀνόματί
σου
καὶ
Ἰσραήλ,
ὃν
πρωτογόνῳ
ὡμοίωσας.
|
11 O Lord, have mercy upon the people that is called by thy name, and upon Israel, whom thou hast named thy firstborn.
|
12 οἰκτίρησον
πόλιν
ἁγιάσματός
σου,
Ἱερουσαλὴμ
τόπον
καταπαύματός
σου·
|
12 O be merciful unto Jerusalem, thy holy city, the place of thy rest.
|
13 πλῆσον
Σιὼν
ἀρεταλογίας
σου
καὶ
ἀπὸ
τῆς
δόξης
σου
τὸν
λαόν
σου.
|
13 Fill Sion with thine unspeakable oracles, and thy people with thy glory:
|
14 δὸς
μαρτύριον
τοῖς
ἐν
ἀρχῇ
κτίσμασίν
σου
καὶ
ἔγειρον
προφητείας
τὰς
ἐπ'
ὀνόματί
σου·
|
14 Give testimony unto those that thou hast possessed from the beginning, and raise up prophets that have been in thy name.
|
15 δὸς
μισθὸν
τοῖς
ὑπομένουσίν
σε,
καὶ
οἱ
προφῆταί
σου
ἐμπιστευθήτωσαν.
|
15 Reward them that wait for thee, and let thy prophets be found faithful.
|
16 εἰσάκουσον,
κύριε,
δεήσεως
τῶν
ἱκετῶν
σου
κατὰ
τὴν
εὐλογίαν
Ἀαρὼν
περὶ
τοῦ
λαοῦ
σου,
|
16 O Lord, hear the prayer of thy servants, according to the blessing of Aaron over thy people,
|
17 καὶ
γνώσονται
πάντες
οἱ
ἐπὶ
τῆς
γῆς
ὅτι
κύριος
εἶ
ὁ
θεὸς
τῶν
αἰώνων.
|
17 that all they which dwell upon the earth may know that thou art the Lord, the eternal God.
|
18 πᾶν
βρῶμα
φάγεται
κοιλία,
ἔστιν
δὲ
βρῶμα
βρώματος
κάλλιον.
|
18 The belly devoureth all meats, yet is one meat better than another.
|
19 φάρυγξ
γεύεται
βρώματα
θήρας,
οὕτως
καρδία
συνετὴ
λόγους
ψευδεῖς.
|
19 As the palate tasteth divers kinds of venison: so doth an heart of understanding false speeches.
|
20 καρδία
στρεβλὴ
δώσει
λύπην,
καὶ
ἄνθρωπος
πολύπειρος
ἀνταποδώσει
αὐτῷ.
|
20 A froward heart causeth heaviness: but a man of experience will recompense him.
|
21 πάντα
ἄρρενα
ἐπιδέξεται
γυνή,
ἔστιν
δὲ
θυγάτηρ
θυγατρὸς
κρείσσων.
|
21 A woman will receive every man, yet is one daughter better than another.
|
22 κάλλος
γυναικὸς
ἱλαρύνει
πρόσωπον
καὶ
ὑπὲρ
πᾶσαν
ἐπιθυμίαν
ἀνθρώπου
ὑπεράγει·
|
22 The beauty of a woman cheereth the countenance, and a man loveth nothing better.
|
23 εἰ
ἔστιν
ἐπὶ
γλώσσης
αὐτῆς
ἔλεος
καὶ
πραΰτης,
οὐκ
ἔστιν
ὁ
ἀνὴρ
αὐτῆς
καθ'
υἱοὺς
ἀνθρώπων.
|
23 If there be kindness, meekness, and comfort, in her tongue, then is not her husband like other men.
|
24 ὁ
κτώμενος
γυναῖκα
ἐνάρχεται
κτήσεως,
βοηθὸν
κατ'
αὐτὸν
καὶ
στῦλον
ἀναπαύσεως.
|
24 He that getteth a wife beginneth a possession, a help like unto himself, and a pillar of rest.
|
25 οὗ
οὐκ
ἔστιν
φραγμός,
διαρπαγήσεται
κτῆμα·
καὶ
οὗ
οὐκ
ἔστιν
γυνή
στενάξει
πλανώμενος.
|
25 Where no hedge is, there the possession is spoiled: and he that hath no wife will wander up and down mourning.
|
26 τίς
γὰρ
πιστεύσει
εὐζώνῳ
λῃστῇ
ἀφαλλομένῳ
ἐκ
πόλεως
εἰς
πόλιν;
|
26 Who will trust a thief well appointed, that skippeth from city to city?
|
27 οὕτως
ἀνθρώπῳ
μὴ
ἔχοντι
νοσσιὰν
καὶ
καταλύοντι
οὗ
ἐὰν
ὀψίσῃ.
|
27 so who will believe a man that hath no house, and lodgeth wheresoever the night taketh him?
|
