Jehoram Meets Mōab Rebellion

1 Now Jehoram the son of Ahab began to reign over Israēl in Samaria the 18th year of Jehoshaphat king of Judah, and reigned twelve years.

2 And he did evil in the sight of Yahweh; but not like his father, and his mother; for he removed the memorial stone of Baal that his father had made.

13 And Elisha said to the king of Israēl, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father, and to the prophets of your mother.” And the king of Israēl said to him, “No; for Yahweh has called these three kings together, to deliver them into the hand of Mōab.”

3:13 And Elisaie said to the king of Israēl, “What have I to do with you? Go to the prophets of your father.” And the king of Israēl said to him, “No, the Lord has called the three kings to deliver them into the hands of Mōab.” 3:13 And Elisaie said to the king of Israēl, “What have I to do with you? 14 And Elisha said, “As Yahweh of armies lives, before whom I stand, surely, were it not that I regard the presence of Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, I would not look toward you, nor see you.

ζῇ Κύριος τῶν δυνάμεων, ᾧ παρέστην ἐνώπιον αὐτοῦ, ὅτι εἰ μὴ πρόσωπον Ἰωασαφὰτ βασιλέως Ἰούδα ἐγὼ λαμβάνω, εἰ ἐπέβλεψα πρός σε καὶ εἶδόν σε·

16 And he said, “Thus says Yahweh, ‘Make this valley full of trenches.'

17 For thus says Yahweh, ‘You shall not see wind, neither shall you see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that you may drink, both you, and your cattle, and your beasts.

3:17 ὅτι τάδε λέγει κύριος οὐκ ὄψεσθε πνεῦμα καὶ οὐκ ὄψεσθε ὑετόν, καὶ ὁ χειμάρρους οὗτος πλησθήσεται ὕδατος, καὶ πίεσθε ὑμεῖς καὶ αἱ κτήσεις ὑμῶν καὶ τὰ κτήνη ὑμῶν· 3:17 ὅτι τάδε λέγει Κύριος·

20 And it happened in the morning, about the time of offering the sacrifice, that, behold, water came by the way of Edom, and the country was filled with water.

21 And when all the Mōabites heard that the kings were come up to fight against them, they gathered all that were able to put on armour, and older, and stood on the border.

24 And when they came to the camp of Israēl, the Israēlites rose up and struck the Mōabites, so that they fled before them; but they went forward smiting the Mōabites, even in their country.

25 And they destroyed the cities, and each man threw a stone on every good piece of land and filled it. And they stopped up every spring of water, and cut down every good tree, but only in Kir-haraseth did they leave its stones. However the slingers surrounded it and struck it.
