The Fool and the Anatomical Indictment
| 13.1 [MT=14:1] The fool said in his heart, "There is no God." They have become corrupt and have been loathsome in their practices; there is no one doing kindness, not so much as one. 13.2 [MT=14:2] The Lord stooped down from heaven toward the sons of men, to see if there is anyone who understands or seeks out God. |
| 13.3 [MT=14:3] They have all turned aside; they have together become useless. There is no one doing kindness, not so much as one. Their throat is an opened grave; with their tongues they have dealt deceitfully. The venom of asps is under their lips, whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness. Their feet are swift to shed blood. Destruction and misery are in their ways, and the way of peace they have not known. There is no fear of God before their eyes. |
The Oppression of the Poor
| 13.4 [MT=14:4] Will all those who work lawlessness not know—those who devour my people as they eat bread? They have not called upon the Lord. 13.5 [MT=14:5] There they were terrified with fear, where there was no fear, because God is in the righteous generation. 13.6 [MT=14:6] You have put to shame the counsel of the poor man, because the Lord is his hope. |
| 13.7 [MT=14:7] Who will give out of Zion the salvation of Israel? When the Lord returns the captivity of His people, let Jacob exult and Israel be glad. |
