The Beatitude of Forgiveness
31.1 [MT=32:1] Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven, and whose sins are covered. 31.2 [MT=32:2] Blessed is the man to whom the Lord will by no means reckon sin, and in whose mouth there is no deceit.
The Agony of Silence
31.3 [MT=32:3] Because I kept silent, my bones grew old from my crying out all the day long. 31.4 [MT=32:4] For day and night Your hand was heavy upon me; I was turned into misery when a thorn was fastened in [me]. Pause.
31.5 [MT=32:5] My sin I made known, and my lawless deed I did not cover. I said, "I will confess my lawlessness against myself to the Lord," and You forgave the impiety of my sin. Pause.
The Refuge in the Flood
31.6 [MT=32:6] For this, every holy one shall pray to You in a fit time; surely in a flood of many waters, they shall not draw near to him. 31.7 [MT=32:7] You are my refuge from the affliction surrounding me; O my exultation, deliver me from those who have encircled me. Pause.
Divine Instruction
9 [MT=32:9] μὴ γίνεσθε ὡς ἵππος καὶ ἡμίονος, οἷς οὐκ ἔστιν σύνεσις· ἐν χαλινῷ καὶ κημῷ τὰς σιαγόνας αὐτῶν ἄγξαι τῶν μὴ ἐγγιζόντων πρὸς σέ. 31.8 [MT=32:8] I will give you understanding and instruct you in this way in which you shall go; I will fix My eyes upon you. 31.9 [MT=32:9] Do not become like a horse or a mule, which have no understanding; with bit and bridle choke their jaws—those who do not draw near to You.
31.10 [MT=32:10] Many are the scourges of the sinner, but mercy shall encircle the one who hopes in the Lord. 31.11 [MT=32:11] Be glad in the Lord and exult, you righteous; and boast, all you who are upright in heart.
