Chapter 16
The Collection for the Saints
1Now concerning the collection for the saints: just as I directed the churches of Galatia, you should do the same. 2On the first day of every week, each of you should put something aside at home, saving up whatever he may have gained, so that collections do not have to be made only when I arrive. 3And when I arrive, whomever you approve, I will send them with letters to carry your gift to Jerusalem. 4If it is appropriate for me to go as well, they will travel with me.
Paul’s Travel Plans
5I will come to you after I pass through Macedonia—for I am passing through Macedonia— 6and perhaps I will stay with you or even spend the winter, so that you may send me on my way wherever I may go. 7For I do not want to see you now just in passing; I hope to remain with you for some time, if the Lord permits. 8But I will stay in Ephesus until Pentecost; 9for a great and effective door has opened for me, though there are many who oppose me.
Instructions Regarding Timothy and Apollos
10Now if Timothy comes, see to it that he is with you without fear; for he is doing the work of the Lord, just as I am. 11Therefore, let no one treat him with contempt. Send him on his way in peace so that he may come to me; for I am expecting him with the brothers.
12Now concerning our brother Apollos, I strongly urged him to come to you with the brothers, but it was not at all his will to come now; he will come, however, when he has the opportunity.
Final Exhortations and Commendations
13Stay alert, stand firm in the faith, act like men, be strong. 14Let everything you do be done in love.
15Now I urge you, brothers and sisters—you know that the household of Stephanas was the firstfruits of Achaia, and they have devoted themselves to the service of the saints— 16you should also submit to such people and to everyone who joins in the work and labors hard. 17I rejoice at the arrival of Stephanas, Fortunatus, and Achaicus, because they have made up for your absence. 18For they refreshed my spirit and yours. Therefore, give recognition to such people.
Final Greetings
19The churches of Asia greet you. Aquila and Prisca, together with the church that meets in their house, greet you warmly in the Lord. 20All the brothers and sisters greet you. Greet one another with a holy kiss.
21The greeting is in my own hand—Paul’s. 22If anyone does not love the Lord, let him be accursed (anathema). Our Lord, come! (marana-tha). 23The grace of the Lord Jesus be with you. 24My love be with all of you in Christ Jesus.
