Chapter 1
The Declaration of God's Election
|
2 ἠγάπησα
ὑμᾶς,
λέγει
κύριος·
καὶ
εἴπατε,
ἐν
τίνι
ἠγάπησας
ἡμᾶς;
οὐκ
ἀδελφὸς
ἦν
Ἡσαῦ
τοῦ
Ἰακώβ,
λέγει
κύριος,
καὶ
ἠγάπησα
τὸν
Ἰακώβ,
3 τὸν
δὲ
Ἡσαῦ
ἐμίσησα,
καὶ
ἔταξα
τὰ
ὅρια
αὐτοῦ
εἰς
ἀφανισμόν,
καὶ
τὴν
κληρονομίαν
αὐτοῦ
εἰς
δόματα
ἐρήμου;
4 διότι
ἐρεῖ,
ἡ
Ἰδουμαία
κατέστραπται,
καὶ
ἐπιστρέψωμεν,
καὶ
ἀνοικοδομήσωμεν
τὰς
ἐρήμους·
τάδε
λέγει
κύριος
παντοκράτωρ,
αὐτοὶ
οἰκοδομήσουσιν,
καὶ
ἐγὼ
καταστρέψω·
καὶ
ἐπικληθήσεται
αὐτοῖς
ὅρια
ἀνομίας,
καὶ
λαὸς
ἐφ'
ὃν
παρατέτακται
κύριος
ἕως
αἰῶνος.
5 καὶ
οἱ
ὀφθαλμοὶ
ὑμῶν
ὄψονται,
καὶ
ὑμεῖς
ἐρεῖτε,
ἐμεγαλύνθη
κύριος
ὑπεράνω
τῶν
ὁρίων
τοῦ
Ἰσραήλ.
| 2 "I have loved you," says the Lord. And you said, "In what way have You loved us?" "Was not Esau Jacob’s brother?" says the Lord. "And I loved Jacob, 3 but Esau I hated; and I have set his borders for a disappearance and his inheritance for the gifts of the wilderness." 4 Because Idumea [Edom] will say, "We have been destroyed, but let us return and rebuild the desolate places." Thus says the Lord Almighty (pantokratōr): "They shall build, but I will tear down; and it shall be called for them 'Borders of Lawlessness,' and 'The people against whom the Lord is arrayed until the end of the age.'" 5 And your eyes shall see, and you shall say, "The Lord has been magnified above the borders of Israel!"

καὶ
δοῦλος
τὸν
κύριον
αὐτοῦ·
καὶ
εἰ

εἰμι
ἐγώ,
ποῦ
ἐστιν
ἡ
δόξα
μου;
καὶ
εἰ
κύριός
εἰμι
ἐγώ,
ποῦ
ἐστιν
ὁ
φόβος
μου;
λέγει
κύριος
παντοκράτωρ·
ὑμεῖς
οἱ
ἱερεῖς
οἱ
φαυλίζοντες
τὸ
ὄνομά
μου,
καὶ
εἴπατε,
ἐν
τίνι
ἐφαυλίσαμεν
τὸ
ὄνομά
σου;
7 προσάγοντες
πρὸς
τὸ
θυσιαστήριόν
μου
ἄρτους
ἠλισγημένους,
καὶ
εἴπατε,
ἐν
τίνι
ἠλισγήσαμεν
αὐτούς;
ἐν
τῷ
λέγειν
ὑμᾶς,
τράπεζα
κυρίου
ἐξουδενωμένη
ἐστίν,
καὶ
τὰ
ἐπιτιθέμενα
βρώματα
ἐξουδενωμένα.
| 6 "A son glorifies his father, and a servant his lord; and if I am a father, where is My glory? And if I am a lord, where is My fear?" says the Lord Almighty. "You priests are the ones who treat My name as common (phaulizontes); and you said, 'In what way have we treated Your name as common?' 7 By bringing polluted bread (artous ēlisgēmenous) to My altar. And you said, 'In what way have we polluted them?' By your saying, 'The table of the Lord is set at nothing, and the food placed upon it is set at nothing.'"

αὐτά,
λέγει
κύριος
παντοκράτωρ·
καὶ
εἰσεφέρετε
ἁρπάγματα,
καὶ
τὰ

καὶ
τὰ
ἐνοχλούμενα·
καὶ
ἐὰν

εἰ
προσδέξομαι
αὐτὰ
ἐκ
τῶν
χειρῶν
ὑμῶν;
λέγει
κύριος
παντοκράτωρ.

λέγει
κύριος
παντοκράτωρ,
καὶ
τὸ
ὄνομά
μου
ἐπιφανὲς

| 12 "But you profane it by your saying, 'The table of the Lord is polluted, and its food is set at nothing.' 13 And you said, 'These things are from hardship (kakopatheias)'; and I blew them away," says the Lord Almighty. "And you brought in plunder, and the lame, and the troubled. And if you bring the sacrifice, shall I accept them from your hands?" says the Lord Almighty. 14 "And cursed is the one who was capable—and there was a male in his flock and his vow was upon it—yet he sacrifices a corrupted thing to the Lord. For a Great King am I," says the Lord Almighty, "and My name is manifest among the nations."
