Chapter 16
Personal Commendations and Greetings
1I commend to you Phoebe, our sister, who is a deacon of the church in Cenchreae, 2so that you may welcome her in the Lord in a manner worthy of the saints and assist her in whatever matter she may need from you; for she has been a patron of many, and of myself as well.
3Greet Prisca and Aquila, my fellow workers in Christ Jesus, 4who risked their own necks for the sake of my life; to them not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. 5Greet also the church that meets in their house. Greet Epaenetus, my beloved, who is the firstfruits of Asia for Christ. 6Greet Mary, who worked very hard for you. 7Greet Andronicus and Junia, my kinsmen and my fellow prisoners, who are outstanding among the apostles, and who were in Christ before me. 8Greet Ampliatus, my beloved in the Lord. 9Greet Urbanus, our fellow worker in Christ, and Stachys my beloved. 10Greet Apelles, the one approved in Christ. Greet those who belong to the household of Aristobulus. 11Greet Herodion, my kinsman. Greet those from the household of Narcissus who are in the Lord. 12Greet Tryphaena and Tryphosa, those women who labor in the Lord. Greet the beloved Persis, who has labored much in the Lord. 13Greet Rufus, the chosen one in the Lord, and his mother—who is a mother to me as well. 14Greet Asyncritus, Phlegon, Hermes, Patrobas, Hermas, and the brothers with them. 15Greet Philologus and Julia, Nereus and his sister, and Olympas, and all the saints with them. 16Greet one another with a holy kiss. All the churches of Christ greet you.
17Now I urge you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and traps contrary to the teaching you learned, and turn away from them. 18For such people do not serve our Lord Christ but their own bellies, and through smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the innocent. 19For the report of your obedience has reached everyone; therefore I rejoice over you, but I want you to be wise toward what is good and innocent toward what is evil. 20And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus be with you.
21Timothy, my fellow worker, greets you, as do Lucius, Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen. 22I, Tertius, the one who wrote this letter, greet you in the Lord. 23Gaius, host to me and to the whole church, greets you. Erastus, the city treasurer, greets you, and our brother Quartus. 24[The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.]
25 Now to the One who is able to strengthen you according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret for long ages, 26but now manifested through the prophetic Scriptures according to the command of the eternal God, and made known to all the nations to bring about the obedience of faith— 27to the only wise God, through Jesus Christ, be the glory forever. Amen.
