The Rebellion of the People

1 ἐμφανὴς
ἐγενόμην
τοῖς
ἐμὲ
μὴ
ζητοῦσιν,
εὑρέθην
τοῖς
ἐμὲ
μὴ
ἐπερωτῶσιν·
εἶπα
ἰδού
εἰμι,
τῷ
ἔθνει
οἳ
οὐκ
ἐκάλεσάν
μου
τὸ
ὄνομα.
2 ἐξεπέτασα
τὰς
χεῖράς
μου
ὅλην
τὴν
ἡμέραν
πρὸς
λαὸν
ἀπειθοῦντα
καὶ
ἀντιλέγοντα,
οἳ
οὐκ
ἐπορεύθησαν
ὁδῷ
ἀληθινῇ,
ἀλλ'
ὀπίσω
τῶν
ἁμαρτιῶν
αὐτῶν.

ἐναντίον
ἐμοῦ
διὰ

αὐτοὶ
θυσιάζουσιν
ἐν
τοῖς
κήποις
καὶ
θυμιῶσιν
ἐπὶ
ταῖς

τοῖς
δαιμονίοις,
ἃ
οὐκ

τὰ

αὐτῶν·

| 1 I became manifest to those who were not seeking Me; I was found by those who were not questioning Me. I said, "Behold, here I am," to the nation that did not call upon My name. 2 I spread out My hands all day long toward a people who are disobedient and contradictory, who did not walk in a true way, but after their own sins. 3 This people provokes Me to My face continually; they sacrifice in the gardens and burn incense on bricks to demons that do not exist. 4 And they sleep in the tombs and in the caves for the sake of dreams—those who eat swine’s flesh and the broth of sacrifices; all their vessels are defiled. 5 Those who say, "Stay far from me, do not come near me, for I am pure."

οἱ
ἐκλεκτοί
μου

| 8 Thus says the Lord: In the way that a grain of grape shall be found in the cluster, and they shall say, "Do not destroy it, for a blessing of the Lord is in it," so I will do for the sake of the one who serves Me; for this one's sake I will not destroy all. 9 And I will bring out the seed from Jacob and from Judah, and he shall inherit My holy mountain; and My chosen ones shall inherit it, and My servants shall dwell there. 10 And in the forest there shall be folds of flocks, and the Valley of Achor shall be for a resting place of herds for My people, who sought Me.

13 διὰ
τοῦτο
τάδε
λέγει
κύριος
ἰδοὺ
οἱ
δουλεύοντές
μοι
φάγονται,
ὑμεῖς
δὲ
πεινάσετε·
ἰδοὺ
οἱ
δουλεύοντές
μοι
πίονται,
ὑμεῖς
δὲ
διψήσετε·
ἰδοὺ
οἱ
δουλεύοντές
μοι
εὐφρανθήσονται,
ὑμεῖς
δὲ
αἰσχυνθήσεσθε·
14 ἰδοὺ
οἱ
δουλεύοντές
μοι
ἀγαλλιάσονται
ἐν
εὐφροσύνῃ,
ὑμεῖς
δὲ
κεκράξεσθε
διὰ
τὸν
πόνον
τῆς
καρδίας
ὑμῶν
καὶ
ἀπὸ
συντριβῆς
πνεύματος
ὀλολύξετε.
15 καταλείψετε
γὰρ
τὸ
ὄνομα
ὑμῶν
εἰς
πλησμονὴν
τοῖς
ἐκλεκτοῖς
μου,
ὑμᾶς
δὲ
ἀνελεῖ
κύριος.
τοῖς
δὲ
δουλεύουσιν
αὐτῷ
κληθήσεται
ὄνομα
καινόν,
16 ὃ
εὐλογηθήσεται
ἐπὶ
τῆς
γῆς·
εὐλογήσουσιν
γὰρ
τὸν
θεὸν
τὸν
ἀληθινόν
καί,
οἱ
ὀμνύοντες
ἐπὶ
τῆς
γῆς
ὀμοῦνται
τὸν
θεὸν
τὸν
ἀληθινόν·
ἐπιλήσονται
γὰρ
τὴν
θλῖψιν
αὐτῶν
τὴν
πρώτην,
καὶ
οὐκ
ἀναβήσεται
αὐτῶν
ἐπὶ
τὴν
καρδίαν.
| 13 Therefore, thus says the Lord: Behold, those who serve Me shall eat, but you shall hunger; behold, those who serve Me shall drink, but you shall thirst; behold, those who serve Me shall be glad, but you shall be put to shame. 14 Behold, those who serve Me shall exult in gladness, but you shall cry out because of the pain of your heart, and you shall wail from a breaking of spirit. 15 For you shall leave your name for a satiety to My chosen ones, and the Lord shall destroy you. But to those who serve Him, a new name shall be called, 16 which shall be blessed upon the earth.

17 ἔσται
γὰρ
ὁ
οὐρανὸς
καινὸς
καὶ
ἡ
γῆ
καινή,
καὶ
οὐ
μὴ
μνησθῶσιν
τῶν
προτέρων,
οὐδ'
οὐ
μὴ

αὐτῶν
ἐπὶ
τὴν
καρδίαν,
18 ἀλλ'
εὐφροσύνην
καὶ
ἀγαλλίαμα
εὑρήσουσιν
ἐν
αὐτῇ·
ὅτι
ἰδοὺ
ἐγὼ
ποιῶ
Ἱερουσαλὴμ
ἀγαλλίαμα
καὶ
τὸν
λαόν
μου
εὐφροσύνην.
19 καὶ
ἀγαλλιάσομαι
ἐπὶ
Ἱερουσαλὴμ
καὶ
εὐφρανθήσομαι
ἐπὶ
τῷ
λαῷ
μου,
καὶ
οὐκέτι
μὴ
ἀκουσθῇ
ἐν
αὐτῇ
φωνὴ
κλαυθμοῦ
οὐδὲ
φωνὴ
κραυγῆς.
20 καὶ
οὐ
μὴ
γένηται
ἐκεῖ
ἄωρος
καὶ
πρεσβύτης,
ὃς
οὐκ
ἐμπλήσει
τὸν
χρόνον
αὐτοῦ·
ἔσται
γὰρ
ὁ
νέος
ἑκατὸν
ἐτῶν,
ὁ
δὲ
ἀποθνῄσκων
ἁμαρτωλὸς
ἑκατὸν
ἐτῶν
καὶ
ἐπικατάρατος
ἔσται.
| 17 For there shall be a new heaven and a new earth, and they shall by no means remember the former things, nor shall they ever come upon their heart. 18 But they shall find gladness and exultation in it; for behold, I am making Jerusalem an exultation and My people a gladness. 19 And I will exult over Jerusalem and be glad over My people, and there shall no longer be heard in her the voice of weeping nor the voice of a cry. 20 And there shall not be an untimely [death] there, nor an old man who does not fulfill his time; for the youth shall be a hundred years old, but the sinner who dies at a hundred years shall also be cursed.

24 καὶ
ἔσται
πρὶν
κεκράξαι
αὐτοὺς
ἐγὼ
ἐπακούσομαι
αὐτῶν,
ἔτι
λαλούντων
αὐτῶν
ἐρῶ
τί
ἐστιν;
25 τότε
λύκοι
καὶ
ἄρνες
βοσκηθήσονται
ἅμα,
καὶ
λέων
ὡς
βοῦς
φάγεται
ἄχυρα,
ὄφις
δὲ
γῆν
ὡς
ἄρτον·
οὐκ
ἀδικήσουσιν
οὐδὲ
μὴ
λυμανοῦνται
ἐπὶ
τῷ
ὄρει
τῷ
ἁγίῳ
μου,
λέγει
κύριος.
| 24 And it shall be, before they cry out, I will listen to them; while they are still speaking, I will say, "What is it?" 25 Then wolves and lambs shall feed together, and a lion shall eat straw like an ox, and a serpent [shall eat] earth as bread. They shall not do wrong nor shall they destroy on My holy mountain, says the Lord.
