Instructions for the Community
1Let brotherly love continue. 2Do not neglect hospitality to strangers, for by this some have entertained angels without knowing it. 3Remember those in prison as though you were bound with them, and those being mistreated as though you yourselves were also in the body. 4Let marriage be held in honor among all and the marriage bed be kept undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterers. 5Keep your way of life free from the love of money, being content with what you have. For He Himself has said: “I will never, never leave you, nor will I ever, ever forsake you.” {Deut. 31:6} 6So we can say with confidence:
  “The Lord is my helper,
I will not be afraid;
What can man do to me?
” {Ps. 118:6 (117:6 LXX)}
Sacrifice Outside the Camp
9Do not be carried away by varied and strange teachings; for it is good for the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which have not benefited those who observe them. 10We have an altar from which those who serve the tabernacle have no right to eat. 11For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest as an offering for sin are burned outside the camp. 12Therefore, Jesus also suffered outside the gate in order to sanctify the people through His own blood. 13So then, let us go out to Him outside the camp, bearing His reproach. 14For here we do not have a lasting city, but we are seeking the one that is to come.
The Sacrifices of the New Covenant
15Through Him, then, let us continually offer up a sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of lips that give thanks to His name. 16And do not neglect doing good and sharing with others, for with such sacrifices God is well-pleased.
Leadership and Prayer
17Obey your leaders and submit to them, for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account. Let them do this with joy and not with groaning, for that would be of no advantage to you.
18Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a clear conscience, desiring to conduct ourselves honorably in all things. 19And I especially urge you to do this, so that I may be restored to you all the sooner.
The Benediction
20Now may the God of peace—who brought up from the dead the great Shepherd of the sheep, our Lord Jesus, by the blood of the eternal covenant— 21equip you with every good thing to do His will, producing in us what is pleasing in His sight through Jesus Christ, to whom be the glory forever and ever. Amen.
Final Words and Greetings
22Now I urge you, brothers, bear with this word of exhortation, for I have written to you only briefly. 23You should know that our brother Timothy has been released, with whom, if he comes soon, I will see you.
